Taking Wall Street by Twitter - Day 4

DAY 4

Some particularly brutal arrest videos are surfacing that you won't see on tv:

Arrests 09.20.11

Video 1

Video 2

And why were these protesters arrested? Because they were part of the media team streaming the live feed at GlobalRevolution and using a tarp to protect communications equipment from rain. The police had spoken earlier to the protesters, saying that "permanent structures," ie tents, "could not be erected." So the protesters started holding up a tarp by hand over the media center's equipment: computers, cameras and mics and a small generator. That was a "violation" of the "permanent structures" /tent law cited, and caused the ensuing arrests.

[The generator had run out of gas in the previous 8 hours because the police were blockading anyone bringing [small] amounts of gasoline to fuel the generator (yes; they might have been planning Molotov cocktails... except the protesters/carriers identified themselves immediately to police, explained the purpose of the gasoline and kept the containers to small ones. No one tried to hide anything, as shown on several You Tube videos)]

Censoring Channels Update

A Clarification has come from Yahoo -Yahoo admits blocking Wall Street protest emails, says censorship was "not intentional"

Yahoo issued this statement:

“We apologize 4 blocking ‘occupywallst.org’ It was not intentional & caught by our spam filters. It is resolved, but may be a residual delay.”

Additionally, the Yahoo account on Twitter tweeted this:

“Thanks to @YahooMail users & @ThinkProgress for catching problem w/ #Occupywallst.org mail. Prob is fixed, but there may be residual delays.”

Guess it helps to make noise and post videos yes? See my previous post testing this problem and a video link.

All the news that's fit to show once we are shamed into it

Now being reported by independent media that CNN, ABC, BBC and more domestic news services are staring to show some treatment of the protest... after almost 4 days; shamed by independent media (Twitter, blogs, Flickr, You Tube, etc) & foreign media (AlJazeeraENG, Russia, Spain, etc).

Talking heads Michael Moore and Roseanne Barr have publicly spoken up for Occupy Wall Street. Waiting on Charlie Sheen; they could use some Tiger Blood down there to resist the Vatican Assassin Warlocks. Strafing run in your underwear :D

A small and positive piece shows up on CNN: Wall Street Protesters Inspired By Arab Spring

Who Were Those Masked People and Why Were They Arrested?

The Wall Street Journal (late but hey :D) has this article explaining that the protesters arrested for wearing masks were cited under a 150-yr-old, obscure law amended in 1965. Best quote from article: "Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, agreed that enforcement is rare but said the arrests occur almost exclusively during political protests. "

And the other two arrestees? Arrested and issued citations for "damage to the sidewalk" after scribbling Gandhi quotes on the concrete near Zuccotti Park. Even though a 5-yr-old girl was less than 30 feet away, drawing with chalk on the sidewalk.

This is why you pay attention to this stuff before they can pass it into law and twist it around for political purposes later. Think hard about it and about the stuff linked on the right here under Legal.

It's also a good lesson in independent media outside the control of media cartels who wouldn't like to have the photos and videos of what's happening on Wall Street to get out. But they have; that's the whole point, purpose and meaning of this blog. Net Power.
